Flu Vaccination 2025/26
- The 2025-26 Flu season runs 1st September – 31st March.
- Vaccination start dates are set nationally each year:
- In 2025, only pregnant women and children receiving Fluenz can be vaccinated from 1st September.
- All other eligible patients can be vaccinated from 3rd October.
- Invites are sent to all eligible patients. Patients receiving an SMS invite can click on a link to book their appointment. Patients receiving a letter can call the surgery to book an appointment. Please do not all us before 9.30am to book your appointment as we are very busy at this time dealing with requests for on the day appointments.
- Eligible patients who are unable to attend the appointments offered by the Practice can book a free NHS vaccination appointment at a pharmacy.
- Patients who are not eligible for an NHS vaccination can pay for a private vaccination at a pharmacy.
- Housebound patients will be visited by South Downs Health & Care.
Eligible patients from 01.09.25:
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 2 or 3 years on 31.08.25 (Fluenz nasal spray)
- Primary school-aged children (Reception to Year 6 – vaccinated by School Nurse Team)
- Secondary school-aged children (Years 7–11 – vaccinated by School Nurse Team)
- Children aged 2 to under 18 years in clinical risk groups (Fluenz nasal spray), children between 6months and 2 will be offered an inactivated flu vaccination (injection)
Eligible patients from 03.10.25:
- Patients aged 65+
- Residents of long-stay care homes
- Carers receiving carer’s allowance or who are the main carer for an elderly/disabled person
- Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- Patients aged 18–64 years in clinical risk groups, including:
- Chronic respiratory disease (e.g. asthma on steroid inhalers, COPD, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis)
- Chronic heart, kidney, liver, or neurological disease (e.g. Stroke, TIA, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Motor Neurone Disease)
- Diabetes
- Immunosuppression (due to disease or treatment, incl. chemo, radiotherapy, HIV)
- Asplenia
- Morbid obesity
